Tasting of 4 Gagauz wines + traditional Gagauz meal (manti, gözleme).

Why it’s worth visiting

Worth it if you're interested in Gagauz culture: a tasting of local wines alongside traditional Gagauz food (manti, gözleme), on southern steppe terroir. Combined with Tomai, it makes a day of cultural immersion in Gagauzia.

The story

KaraGani Winery is a Gagauz winery in Vulcănești town (Gagauzia, southern Moldova), focused on wines with local cultural identity. The brand keeps its Turkic-Gagauz roots, emphasizing Moldovan varieties and blends from grapes grown in the southern steppe terroir (chernozem soils, mild winters, long sun exposure). Tours in RO/RU + Gagauz. Combinable with Tomai Winery (the other major Gagauz winery, 30km away) for an authentic «Gagauz Wine Day» tour.

What visitors wrote
  • “It's a family place is a must for wine and food lovers. We visited this place with a very short appointment, but the owners welcomed us with great hospitality. The wines are well made, interesting, sometimes stand out from other Moldavian wines. Wine is ideal for local food, you can try there. Next time we will definitely return to this place.”

  • “This family run vineyard is an absolute must visit. The couple that owns/runs the vineyard takes you around town a bit and is very knowledgable on the history of the area. Then take you to their property where you do a wine tasting and have an incredible meal. I'm not sure what was more delicious the meal or the wine. The wine is amazing though! I am a big lover for Cabernet…”

  • “KaraGani is Vulkanesti's top winery in the south of Moldova, located in the country’s semi-autonomous Gagauzia region. With two-day's notice, the husband-and-wife team will prepare an incredible selection of Gagauzian dishes using local ingredients from nearby farms. Their wines are excellent, as are their nastoiki (infused alcohol).”
