The Holy Trinity Monastery at Rudi is an active women's monastery nestled in deciduous forest on the bank of the Dniester River, near Moldova's northern border with Ukraine. The site holds layers of history: an ancient earth-clad circular fortress known as Farfuria Turcului (the Turk's Plate), a natural waterfall hidden in the woods a few hundred meters from the gate, and the peaceful rhythm of monastic life. Entry requires modesty — women must wear skirts and head coverings to enter the church. The atmosphere is one of deep contemplation. The monastery is at its most beautiful at sunset, when light slants through the trees and reflects off the Dniester. Access is challenging: the road is rough and may require a sturdy car or a willingness to hike the final stretch on foot.

“A very quiet place in north of Moldova. It is a monastery for women and there is quite big list of rules if you want to enter there. We must need to have a skirt and something on their head because without it you can’t enter there.”
