Ancuța's Pension is a traditional Bessarabian house restored on the Răut river bank in Furceni village (Orhei), 12 km from Old Orhei — 6 welcoming rooms with oak verandah, hand-painted tiled stoves, wool blankets and Moldovan carpets on the walls. Hosts Ancuța and Petru are traditional farmers — every meal comes from the homestead: eggs from 60 hens, fresh cheese, goat milk, honey from own hives, vegetables from the 1-ha garden, hearth-baked bread, barrel wine. Kitchen specialties: clay-pot zeamă with homemade noodles, mămăligă with salty cheese and cracklings, învârtită cheese-dill pies, sarmale in horseradish leaves, garlic chicken roast. Activities: fishing on the Răut, carriage rides, evening bonfire.
